IntelLiDrives, Inc. releases XY Table with Air bearings for precision manufacturing

IntelLIDrives, Inc. has released a new XY table http://www.intellidrives.com/systems-c-18.html utilizing planar linear motor technology in a single plane direct drive positioning stage. This innovative design offers the unique capability to operate two axes of motion in one plane with one motor.

Two component system consists of passive, magnet-free stationary platen, constructed of lightweight composite materials, and dual axes moving forcer, gliding on the air bearings over special “waffle-like “surface called platen. Planar forcer contains two or four linear motor modules oriented 90 degrees to each other. As linear motor modules respond to varying currents, forcer moves across the platen to produce continuous linear motion. Forcers can be controlled in translation and rotation modes to perform XY and theta (couple degrees) motions.

Stage is built with field replaceable cable track, enclosing electrical cable and air supply, and a panel, containing user electrical and air connectors for a “plug-and-play” installation in less than 5 minutes.

Scalable forcer design provides forces from 25N to 500N, motion repeatability 2 microns, travel length up 1.5 m x 1 m.

IntelLiDrives, Inc. Cartesian system is capable of velocities 2 m/sec, compatible with standard micro stepping indexer/drivers and offer a cost effective, compact envelope planar linear positioning system.

This system is designed for high accuracy, repeatability and speed, simplifying design by eliminating problem associated with stackable XY tables, where one axis is being carried by another. As a result positioning stage with the Planar XY table offers greater reliability and performance through design simplification and elimination of wear-prone components.

Planar XY table system can operate in any orientation (side wall, upside-down) with multiple forcers installed and operated independently on a single platen for high throughput and flexibility in many robotic automation applications

Typical applications include pick and place automation, electromechanical assembly, material transfer systems, laser cutting, testing, dispensing and many others.

IntelLiDrives newly released RTH Series rotary tables combine planar air bearings and RotoLinear motor technologies in the compact, direct drive configuration.

These rotary tables eliminate friction, backlash and the wear problems associated with worm gears and belt driven stages.

Small 1.5” height profile tables manufactured with diameters 4”, 6”, 8” and 12”, operate on air bearings for frictionless, maintenance free operation, and can be supplied with aperture opening through the center.

Torque ranges from 5 to 50 lb*ft, resolution up to 1 arc-sec, repeatability 5 arc-sec, speed up to 200 rpm with unlimited rotation.

Series RT rotary tables are compatible with standard micro stepping indexer/drivers and offer a low cost, compact envelope direct drive rotary positioning systems and can also be supplied with high resolution tape encoders for ultra-precise positioning and closed servo loop operation.

I-TECH And KT Web Printing Ltd. Partner To Install The First I-TECH Automatic Register Control System In Canada

New Diagnostics Instrument for High Volume Semiconductor Manufacturing Environment

InnerSense Ltd., a leading global developer and manufacturer of precision auto-diagnostics instruments for the semiconductors industry, introduced a new system for eliminating handling-related yield loss in 300mm wafer process tools running high volume production.

The new system, coined SMW2, consists of a 300mm wafer instrumented with sensitive three dimensional vibration sensors, and a “Smart FOUP™” that serves as a recharge and communication station, as well as a clean storage container. The “Smart FOUP” employs contact-less recharging and data transfer that enable the system to interface with standard robotic wafer handlers and be operated with minimal interruption to the production line.

In addition to 3D vibration sensing and FOUP-based, contact-less reader/recharger station, the SMW2 features advanced analytical tools that facilitate troubleshooting, SPC-based trend identification and tool-to-tool comparison. These tools allow even untrained operators to use the system effectively to enhance the availability of expensive wafer process equipment.

ABOUT “SMART WAFER” TECHNOLOGY
A semiconductor wafer is typically handled hundreds of times during its manufacturing process. Collisions and rubbing against other objects may result in edge cracks and back scratches. Uneven or abrupt lifting may cause skidding and misalignment, or even dropping the wafer inside the tool. Particles generated in mechanical contact cause contamination. In total, handling related defects are believed to cause over 30% of wafer yield loss.

Instrumented with sensitive multi-axial accelerometers, InnserSense’s Smart Wafer travels just like a production wafer through the entire path in the process tool and record the vibrations and tilting it experiences during the various handling operations. The recorded data is analyzed to pinpoint problem sources and detect mechanism deterioration to trigger predictive maintenance. By providing quantitative and statistical information on a regular basis, the Smart Wafer becomes a valuable tool for Advanced Equipment Control (AEC). The resulting enhanced yield and productivity translate to significant cost savings.
